IWG Signs Contract Extension With Loto-Quebec

From the lottery sector in Canada Instant Win Gaming (IWG) have announced a contract extension with Loto-Quebec that secures the relationship for more than a decade going forward.

Lottery players playing at Loto-Quebec online will be able to continue playing the full suite of InstantGames™ and digital eInstants provided by IWG. That list of games is more than 300 strong and includes a huge mix of bespoke and innovative scratchcard and slot titles that showcase IWG’s own in-house team as well as branded games like Monopoly and casino slots brought onto the platfrom through iWG’s commercial partnerships. Online slots players who spin at casinos will recognise titles like Blueprint Gaming’s Genie Jackpots and Slingo Original’s Big Money Slingo.

IWG has been supplying games to Loto-Quebec since 2016. You can also find their products at other NASPL (North American Association of State and Provincial Lotteries) and WLA (World Lottery Association) lottery sites in Canada and across the globe.

In September last year they announced other contract extensions in North America with the British Colombia Lottery Corporation and Michigan State Lottery. Overall, IWG is responsible for instant game content with 10 different lottery operators on the North American continent.

The announcement of IWG and Loto-Quebec’s continued partnership was accompanied by fresh affirmation of the solid relationship between the two businesses.

Anne-Marie Voyer, Director of Lottery Products & Development at Loto-Québe, commented that, ‘IWG continues to be an important partner for us. We know the high level of commitment and drive that IWG has for the eInstant category. The team delivers new concepts that keeps evolving our offering and brings new experiences for our players to enjoy.”

Commercial deals like these reflect a healthy market for gaming business in Canada as we head into a new age of regulation for real money casino and sportsbooks.

Loto-Qubec is one of the state-run lottery companies, referred to as a Crown Agency, that has been offering lottery and casino games for more than a decade now. This set up is legal under the Criminal Code of Canada. Other provinces with their own state-run lotteries and casinos include Ontario – OLG (Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation), British Colombia – BCLC – and Alberta – PlayAlberta.

New laws passed in 2021 will soon allow for private betting firms to enter the market to compete with these state-run sites who have enjoyed a monopoly until now. As reported on these pages the first to do so will be Ontario, whose regulated market opens up on 4th April 2022.
